Apple to halt Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 sales in the US this week

Apple is set to halt U.S. sales of its Apple Watch 9 and Ultra 2 following a U.S. International Trade Commission ruling in an intellectual property lawsuit.

The ruling, which found Apple’s blood oxygen sensors infringed on patents held by Masimo, gives Apple two months to negotiate a licensing agreement or appeal to the Biden administration.

The sales pause, affecting watches with blood oxygen monitoring capabilities, begins on Dec. 21 at 3 pm ET.

Although limited to the U.S., the timing just before Christmas may impact Apple’s holiday sales, potentially leading to increased demand or resale activities.

The Biden administration has until Dec. 25 to decide whether to reverse the decision.
